🎉 Last week I had the honour of discussing the current state of WordPress events with @sereedmedia as guests of @michelleames and @craylor at the @OpenChannelsFM Open Event Talk. 👏 From next-gen events to grassroots side events, the WordPress community is alive and kicking and innovating based on the timeless values it is known for: promoting open source. 🫡 Of course @altctrlorg, which I participated in as an organiser and host earlier this month in Basel/Switzerland, focused on governance and free speech, was discussed as well. I was humbled to receive so many nice comments for it in the podcast. Kudos to the organising team for putting it up! All the praise goes to you! Μηπως η "ερημωση της υπαιθρου" ειναι ο μονος τροπος να ειναι ομορφο το 90% της χωρας μας, με καλοδιατηρημενο περιβαλλον; Χρειαζεται η χωρα κιαλλα κακοχτισμενα αυθαιρετα με ελενιτ; Μας ενοχλουν γραφικα χωρια που διατηρουνται, αντι να εξαπλωνονται, και γινονται τουριστικα; ΣΓ

Really sad to see the official account that represents a beautiful open source community like #WordPress engaging in such subpar interactions. Sets poor precedents of attacking another open source project directly and focusing on its problems (if this is even a real problem and not a temp issue) and not one's own merits. This does not speak for all of us. It is bad ethics. These are not the principles that guide this community.

Looks like the Federated and Independent Repository project is going great. This is clearly going to rock the WordPress world. We don't know how we'll continue without these contributors. Maybe they need some REST.

@remkusdevries It's a kinda unconventional thing to say in this day and age. Individualism usually urges people to postpone such steps in life. I myself am a victim of it. Wish I knew better earlier. Still love every minute of being a parent.

I see this sentiment all the time. And I agree, there's no end to the joy kids give you. It's unimaginable. Truly. But... I would also argue to have them as young as you can. In your 20s even. I don't subscribe to this "your 20s are for grinding". I'm 52 right now, and having three adult kids (18 - 27) is the greatest gift ever.

I was someone who through my 20s wasn't even sure if I wanted kids. Work was my passion and I enjoyed it deeply. I filled up two passports. I did well financially. And yet, it's incomparable to the joy and purpose having children has given me. Like, not even close. Its crazy.

Όλο και κάτι θα μας έχει ξεφύγει - εσείς θα μας το βρείτε. 👏 WordPress με custom post types, custom taxonomies, custom fields, custom design και με τη δύναμη και την ευελιξία του Block Editor, πάνω στο δικό μας Vanilla Framework. Who else uses a menstrual cycle tracking app for their significant other; where applicable? 🤔 It helps me anticipate dietary needs and cravings (I do the cooking) and mood shifts, so I can offer the best care..for the both of us! 💙 ..good thing I just fixed my phone. 😅

Το νέο μας επεισόδιο των Digital Recipes by @nevmagr είναι στον αέρα και έχει την ιδιαιτερότητά του, γιατί το τραβήξαμε στα πλαίσια του WordCamp Europe 2025 και περιλαμβάνει τις εντυπώσεις μας από το event, ταξιδιωτικό ρεπορτάζ από τα ταξίδια μας στη γαλλική και ελβετική επαρχία τριγύρω από τη Βασιλεία αλλά και τρεις πολύ ενδιαφέρουσες συνεντεύξεις που πήραμε από μερικούς πολύ ενδιαφέροντες ανθρώπους της κοινότητας του WordPress. @schutzsmith @bph @photomatt It is an Automattic event. Currently the programming team is curating all the programming and everything will be finalized through the Automattic events team. FYI the theme of the event is around the evolution of WordPress, AI and beyond, educating the users.

@BlakeWhittle7 @WordCampUS It is practically impossible for me to come at that time of the year. However, for the sake of transparency the organising team is one of the first things other flagships publish. Also the selection process is quite transparent too.

@takisbig @WordCampUS There has never been a page, sometimes they do identify themselves on their X account handles though. Come to the event, usually they're all on stage afterwards. There were so many at #WCEU.

Oh, it's blaming the person at all. Knowing how flagship WordCamps work I tend to believe that whoever said this, were simply saying what they knew the truth was. They were not making a mistake based on their knowledge of the facts. Also, for the sake of transparency one should need to search external sources to find the organisers.
