🚨 GTC DISCUSSION: $TSLA AI LEAD ASHOK ELLUSWAMY ON SHARED ARCHITECTURE FOR FSD & OPTIMUS ✅ Core Similarity Between Self-Driving & Humanoid Robots • Hierarchical decision making is useful but must be integrated into the same decision-making process as lower-level controls • Tesla has extensive experience with the long tail of self-driving, where high-level and low-level decisions must be made jointly at high framerate ✅ Optimus Architecture Design • Optimus uses a similar architecture to FSD • Hierarchy exists but runs as part of the same model • Latencies in decision making are well modeled and controlled • This design is expected to scale effectively for humanoid robots ✅ Decision-Making Continuum • Distinction between decision levels exists only in the developer’s mind • For the model, it is a continuous space of decision making • Developers have dials to adjust granularity (more fine or coarse decisions) ✅ Sensor & Control Constraints • Humanoids have more sensor modalities and higher degrees of freedom than self-driving cars • Fundamental constraints remain identical: real-time decisions are required • Lowest frequency of control outputs cannot be too low • Robot safety cannot depend on very low-frequency processes
The Humanoid Hub@TheHumanoidHub

Ashok Elluswamy, Tesla's AI lead, during a GTC discussion, highlighting the fundamental similarity in AI approaches for self-driving cars and humanoid robots: - Hierarchical decision making is useful, but it has to be done as part of the same decision-making process as lower-level controls. - We haven't seen the long tail of humanoid robotics, but Tesla has seen the long tail of self-driving, where high and low-level decisions have to be jointly made at a pretty high framerate. - Optimus's architecture is designed in a similar way, where there's a hierarchy but it's all running as part of the same model and the latencies involved in decision making are well modeled. - This architecture will scale quite well with humanoid robots. - The distinction of the decision-making levels is only in the developer's mind. For the model, it's a continuous space of decision making, where there are dials available to make them more fine or coarse. - Humanoids have more sensor modalities and higher degrees of freedom compared to self-driving, but the fundamental constraints remain the same: you need to make real-time decisions. There's obviously a hierarchy to these control signal outputs, but the lowest frequency cannot be too low, because the safety of the robot cannot depend upon things running at very low frequencies.

🚨BREAKING: CARWOW VIDEO MISLEADS VIEWERS BY CALLING $TSLA AUTOPILOT “FULL SELF DRIVE” AND CALLING IT POINTLESS • Video tests basic Autopilot in city driving, roundabouts, pedestrian areas, and other urban scenarios • Autopilot is Level 2 highway-assist system that requires constant driver supervision and is not designed for city or complex environments • FSD (Supervised) is not yet approved or available in the UK, so the video is using Autopilot footage while labeling it as “Full Self Drive” • This creates confusion, as Autopilot is being judged on tasks it was never built to handle without active driver input • Critics argue the test setup unfairly shows Autopilot “failing” at scenarios outside its intended use case • FSD remains in early access (mainly US) and still requires driver attention—no unsupervised robotaxi service exists in the UK or most of Europe • Video risks misleading viewers unfamiliar with the difference between Autopilot and FSD
Sawyer Merritt@SawyerMerritt

Carwow just released a new video to its 11 million YouTube subscribers titled: "Why Tesla Full Self Drive is Pointless!" @carwowuk misleads its viewers into thinking Tesla’s Autopilot is FSD, even though FSD hasn’t been approved in the UK yet. Autopilot isn’t meant for city driving, yet they test of bunch of scenarios that Autopilot wasn't built to do in the first place....

🚨BREAKING: NHTSA DEEPENS PROBE INTO TESLA'S FULL SELF-DRIVING SYSTEM 🇺🇸 $TSLA ✅ Probe Expansion • U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has deepened its investigation into Tesla's Full Self-Driving (FSD) driver-assistance technology • Expanded to cover approximately 3.2 million Tesla vehicles across multiple models equipped with the system ✅ Reason for Deepening • Follows an earlier preliminary review • Focuses on nine crashes linked to FSD, including one fatal incident • Additional crashes identified where the system lost track of or failed to detect vehicles ahead ✅ Specific Focus Areas • Evaluation of Tesla's "degradation detection" system • Determines if FSD can reliably recognize degraded road conditions (e.g., glare, dust, airborne obstructions) • Assesses whether the system provides adequate warnings to drivers to take control ✅ Crash Patterns • In several incidents, FSD did not detect impaired camera visibility or issue alerts until just before impact • This limited the driver's ability to respond in time • Two crashes involved injuries ✅ Potential Outcomes • Probe could lead to a recall or other enforcement action if a safety defect is found • Tesla typically addresses safety issues via over-the-air (OTA) software updates
