Let's go: Demand forecasting is the process of making estimations about future customer demand over a defined period of time, using historical data and other information such as events and seasonal patterns. Here are the keys to improving your Demand Forecasting: 1. Data Inputs: Demand forecasting involves using historical sales data, as well as considering market trends, seasonal patterns, economic conditions, and other external factors that can influence demand. 2. Methods and Models: Different statistical and machine learning models can be used, such as time series analysis (e.g., ARIMA, Exponential Smoothing), regression models, and more sophisticated approaches like machine learning algorithms (e.g., XGBoost and neural networks). 3. Short-term and Long-term Forecasts: Depending on the business needs, forecasting can be conducted for short-term (e.g., next month), medium-term (e.g., next quarter), or long-term periods (e.g., next year or beyond) 4. Benefits of Demand Forecasting: A) Inventory Optimization: Helps in maintaining optimal inventory levels—enough to meet customer demands without resulting in surplus.
