@jaredpalmer Make it so users are transparently paying for things that actually cost you guys money. If I’m already finding a way to make the things run on my machine, I’d be far happier paying for the bandwidth and log storage than the machine I’ve already set up for this.

We’re postponing the announced billing change for self-hosted GitHub Actions. The 39% price reduction for hosted runners will continue as planned (on January 1) We missed the opportunity to gather feedback from the community ahead of this move. That's a huge L. We'll learn and do better in the future. Actions is critical infrastructure for millions of developers and we're committed to making it a world‑class compute product. Although we gave away 11.5 billion build minutes (~$184 million) to support OSS last year, Actions itself is not free. There are real, web-scale costs associated with the service and behind the control plane (for logs, artifacts, caching, redis, egress, engineering, support, etc) for both hosted and self-hosted runners. We eventually need to find a way to price it properly while also partnering and fostering the rest of the ecosystem. However, we clearly missed some steps here, and so we’re correcting course. You all trust Actions with your most important workflows, and that trust comes with a responsibility we didn't live up to. The way forward is to listen more, ship with the community, and raise the bar together.
GitHub@github

We’ve read your posts and heard your feedback. 1. We’re postponing the announced billing change for self-hosted GitHub Actions to take time to re-evaluate our approach. 2. We are continuing to reduce hosted-runners prices by up to 39% on January 1, 2026. We have real costs in running the Actions control plane. We are also making investments into self-hosted runners so they work at scale in customer environments, particularly for complex enterprise scenarios. While this context matters, we missed the mark with this change by not including more of you in our planning. We need to improve GitHub Actions. We’re taking more time to meet and listen closely to developers, customers, and partners to start. We’ve also opened a discussion to collect more direct feedback and will use that feedback to inform the GitHub Actions roadmap. We’re working hard to earn your trust through consistent delivery across GitHub Actions and the entire platform.

Any Swift devs know if it's possible to make glass effects *not* have the disabled state? I'd like to keep a glass element the same color when the window is backgrounded but there's (ofc) not an API for it.

I’m planning on integrating it into a few projects where I’d like to replace JSON with CBOR for the size and speed gains. Super excited to get this out there :)

Performance is significantly better than any other Swift implementation I could find, with support for UUIDs, half precision floats, and flexible date en/decoding. Pretty good test suite and fuzz tested for reliability.

Finished my Swift CBOR library! v1 is tagged and ready to use on any platform Swift supports. Really excited to start using it in my own apps, I’m hoping it’ll be handy for working with ATProto stuff as well! github.com/thecoolwinter/…

I’m especially proud of these two updates. Our text view is basically where I imagined it would be a few years ago when I set out to re-implement NSTextView from scratch for a code editor
CodeEdit@CodeEditApp

We've implemented performance improvements in our open-source Swift text view that reduces CPU time by up to 87% on each keystroke. The whole editor should feel more snappy! #issuecomment-3225639041" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">github.com/CodeEditApp/Co… Our text view is also now completely compatible with all macOS A11Y APIs!

kinda trying the new "trendy" macOS Settings style for @kindaVim @wooshyapp and @scrollaapp but 1) it has to be all custom coz Apple doesn't provide any SwiftUI shit 2) it's buggy 3) it's ugly 4) vertical Settings on screen that are wider than taller IS. JUST. DUMB (unifying for no valid reason) 5) Apple's own HIG show the old style for macOS' Settings 🤣🤣🤣

This one is huge for getting 'real work' done in CodeEdit. Combine it with the recent changes to restore your location in an editor, it means CodeEdit is nearing where I'd like it to be for a plain text editor. On to language server support!

In the next version of CodeEdit... Editors reflect external file changes! If your file is modified by another program on your machine, CodeEdit will intelligently reload any open editors to show you the most up-to-date version of that file.

To add salt in the wound, for that price you get software that’s terrible for just charging a client for services delivered. They obfuscate where your money is, if the invoice email was sent, and how much you have to payout. PayMe fixes that with transparent, clean, software.

I’m excited to introduce an idea that’s been floating in my head: PayMe PayMe is invoicing software for creators and professionals, with just a 1% fee. Photographer invoicing for a shoot? You could save >2% of your income using PayMe over QuickBooks! usepayme.app
