When I got my first remote job offer, I didn’t have a laptop. After my internship, I kept applying for jobs while growing my LinkedIn account, I faced a lot of rejections. The small laptop I was managing got completely spoilt, so I was left with just my phone. I still kept applying. Consistency paid off. I got a small contract from a client in UAE on upwork. The pay was $40 per week, not much, but I was very happy. I started the job with my phone. It was draining, but I stayed committed. It was my first remote role and I didn’t want to mess it up. After a few weeks, my boss sent an assessment. If I passed, I would become his PA for the remaining months of the contract. The problem was I couldn’t access the file on my phone. He gave us 8 hours to submit. It was already around 10pm when I got it. I knew I couldn’t do it till morning at a cyber cafe. I cried that night. I couldn’t sleep. I thought I was going to lose the opportunity. Very early the next morning, I found a cafe and started the test. I was tired, my eyes were swollen, but I did it. I submitted it 2 hours late, I made sure I did it well. To the glory of God, I got it. Out of the three of us, he picked me as his PA. He didn’t know what I went through. He just saw my work and my effort. That job helped me buy my laptop and set myself up for remote work. I’m writing this because it gives me hope. I might not be there yet, but I'm not where I used to be. If you stay consistent, do your best with what you have, and keep going, things can change. God Almighty is ever faithful.

Because I wanted to show that I was a good wife material, I wore one funny long Ankara that covered my hot legs and tied scarf. The first person to receive me was my sister in-law. She came out with 22 inches bone straight and correct jeans trouser and crop top My eye fess clear. I muttered under my breath, fucccck up. My husband was just laughing cos he actually begged me to change my clothes, I no gree😭
