Thanks so much for your question about Rob Bottin. We absolutely tried, and we mean really tried, to secure an interview with Rob for The Thing Expanded. Unfortunately, he never responded to our many attempts to reach out to him. Many fans already know that Rob lives an extremely private life. He has not given an interview in over 30 years and has not appeared in any documentaries since the early 1990s. Rob even declined to participate in Joe Dante's documentary, with whom he previously worked. While of course we would have loved to include him directly, we also respect his desire for privacy. That said, his work is treated with enormous care and respect throughout the documentary. We go deep into the artistry, innovation, and impact of his groundbreaking effects work. We’ve also interviewed members of his team, some of whom have never spoken on camera about their experience before, offering new insight into how those legendary creations came to life. In addition, we feature the entire remaining surviving cast and an extraordinary lineup of contributors, including Guillermo del Toro, Frank Darabont, not to mention Kurt Russell, and John Carpenter. The Thing Expanded is designed to be the definitive tribute to the film’s legacy, craftsmanship, and cultural impact. As an early backer, you received access to multiple live streamed events with the cast and crew of The Thing on our YouTube channel, as well as the opportunity to be part of a select backer group who reviewed our assembly rough cut at the end of last year. We’re now running our final pre-order ahead of release, with Digital arriving in April and the Blu-ray shipping in May (estimated).
