Of which Lagos University Teaching Hospital gave us estimated bill of 9Millon Naira or less depending on the number of cycles of Chemotherapy and Radiotherapy she will be needing. No, you need to spell it out because you just said a kid fell from a scaffold but didn’t mention which type, and moreover, you can fall from any scaffold. But the bottom line is safety because how does a kid have access to the construction site and be able to climb the scaffold? These are the regulations I am talking about; it shouldn’t be easily accessible when not in use or there is no one on site.

Looking at this image from a construction perspective, one thing stands out the scaffolding system. Since 1953, countries like the UK have continuously improved scaffolding, moving to regulated steel systems with strict safety standards. Now compare that to Nigeria, where bamboo scaffolding is still widely used. It may seem cheaper, but it’s not sustainable every project often requires cutting fresh bamboo, with limited reuse compared to steel systems. More importantly, the safety concerns are serious. The use of binding wires or nails as connections can easily fail under weather or load, putting workers at risk. We’ve seen cases where this has led to fatalities even on government projects. At this point, it’s not just about cost it’s about regulation, safety, and long-term sustainability.
