@AGenuineOutlaw Martinelli was already on his way down before the trailing leg was brought up. Won the ball, Not a penalty for me but wouldn't have been a "clear and obvious" error if given

@AdamJoseph The thing that's most insane is that only goals and assists get attention. He was one of the best players on the pitch even in those early games and was up there for chances created, stat watchers rather than match watchers of this generation of football fans.

This coverage of Florian Wirtz has reached client journalism status. Never seen a big money signing reach endangered species level protection. Cool, he's started contributing G/A.. vs Newcastle, Qarabag, Burnley, Barnsley, Fulham, Wolves & 10 man Tottenham. He also cost £116m, so he should be. Pogba, Antony, Maguire, Caicedo, Rice, Lukaku, Sancho, Pepe, Højlund, Sesko, none were ever given this kind of grace. Must be a Liverpool thing, huh?
The Athletic | Football@TheAthleticFC

Florian Wirtz had many adjustments to make when he moved to England. He needed to put on weight and muscle to condition himself to a new athletic standard. He needed to understand what it was to be worth more than any other German footballer in history. And he had to do it while Liverpool were in flux. Now, a corner seems to have been turned. @SebSB & @adjones_journo 🔗 nytimes.com/athletic/70179…

@Pau1Evan5 @WilcoFtbl Have you actually watched Alonso sides play? His teams press high, fight to win the ball back and get the ball up the field with pace. Completely the opposite of what is happening now where Liverpool are passive out of possession and slow down every counter but dragging ball bk

@WilcoFtbl We need to be careful, I personally think it’s time for slot to go but bringing in Alonso isn’t necessarily the answer. His football is not to dissimilar to slot, it’s slow possession based football, is that what people want ?

If that loss to Bournemouth isn’t enough for the hierarchy to sack Arne Slot immediately and bring in Xabi Alonso, I fear the problems at Liverpool run far deeper than the manager. Richard Hughes and Michael Edwards need to do what is needed, or lose the trust of the entire fanbase. FSG spent the money this summer, but clearly don’t understand the football side and will not do else than what those two tells them. Very worrying times.

@HendrickD82 @anantthakur85 First leg we lost 3-0 but absolutely no way it should have been that. We didn't get battered we just couldn't score for shit 3-2 probably would have been a fair representation

The Connor Bradley incident is the clearest example of how tribal and thick a lot of football fans are, particularly on twitter. At not one moment was Connor off the pitch to be able to bring himself back on, nonetheless the overall drama is nonsensical.

He isn't watching when he falls over, so he thinks he's faking/not serious (0:01) This is later confirmed by Martinelli on Instagram Bradley then pushes himself further onto the pitch (0:10) and sits up (0:15) so Martinelli thinks he's fine It's a misunderstanding, and there will be 100 more incidents, as Liverpool manager Slot says, of faking injuries Given the game state, you understand the frustation I wish it hadn't happened, of course, and Martinelli shouldn't have pushed him as I originally said "Spreading lies" is very strong 😄

Good. He obviously didn’t know Bradley was actually injured and confirmed that himself. If you watch it back, he’s looking for the ball as Bradley falls over, then Bradley pushes himself onto the pitch & sits up which is the part he sees. I understand why, considering the game & game state, he reacts. He should not have done it, but the moral outrage was a response to a boring game with few talking points imo.

🚨 Gabriel Martinelli is NOT expected to receive retrospective FA punishment following his push on Conor Bradley in the Liverpool draw. ❌ [@TomCantonMedia]

@ally_kalu @utdsnook Adjusted to inflation Ronaldo is nearly £200m today Trent a born Scouser worth £100m+ ran down his contract whilst learning Spanish leaving the club for next to nothing. Abt 18 months prior it was known RM pushed for him to run his contract down It's not even remotely the same

@tiptoptoptips I wondered at the start of the season how well they would cope with the loss of Diogo. Seems it's affecting them more than I expected.

People blaming Slot here are stupid. Almost every Liverpool player is failing at the basics! Giving ball away cheaply in mid Losing every 2nd ball Poor keeping of a high line No movement off the ball #BRELIV

@datdarkhorse Its absolutely the whole team, odd players have good games but other than Chiesa, szobo and Ekitike every one of them is a problem currently with simple stuff. Its not tactical, its mental. Basics right and the team has enough quality to beat most teams, but they are far off
