And now, as I'm sitting in front of my computer, I'm dreading re-designing the SQL database because I have a better understanding of, not just the meaning of the word "siglum" but also what different sigla mean and represent.

And this is why I think the data pyramid model captures the challenge. As a computer scientist, I started at the bottom, looking at the data not knowing what things are. Humanities scholars, on the other hand, work at the top of the pyramid.

In our paper "Data-Driven Scholarship" last week, we used this data pyramid (DIKW) to describe our interdisciplinary work in #LyingPen. And this is why outsourcing all things digital in a digital humanities project can be super challenging. @Ludvik_A_K @arsteinjustnes

For the past few days, my eyes have been straining so bad that I decided to get an eye check-up today. I came expecting my myopia had gotten worse. But NO, not at all. Turns out I'm not even myopic! What I have is pseudomyopia. So... Almost 2 decades of my life has been a lie??🤯

Back in my undergrad, Database was one of my favorite courses. The normalization process and whatnot really appealed to my tendency to want to optimize things. Now, more than a decade later, I have to re-learn and it somehow feels like I'm doing lab tasks all over again 😅

Yesterday I finally made my Hyperspectral Pigment app available publicly! For now it only has an explorer but I'm planning to add functionalities to the web-app in the future. The explorer is still not perfect, but here you go anyway: hyppigments.streamlit.app
