The ancient representation, Nsibidi, does not consist of individual characters, assembled into words and sentences, but of signs for entire words. “Beastly” by James Edmonton has a set of ornaments that could fit right into a Nsibidi message. #chimamandangoziadichie #beastly

The ìgbò language, which is often quoted in the book, never had its own alphabet until recently. Ńdébé is a modern writing system for the Ìgbò language. „Beastly“ with its swirls and triangular countershapes echo Nsibidi’s joyful lines. #chimamandangoziadichie #jamesedmonton
