Thank you Kansas City for an amazing 4+ years.  Being your City Manager has been an incredible honor and privilege and I am extremely proud of the work we have done to elevate our quality of life for all Kansas Citians.  City government is more responsive, inclusive, and approachable, and our city is unquestionably better now than it was four years ago.  Some of my favorite highlight projects include: • A record amount of street resurfacing • Our all new exponentially more effective snow removal plan • Billions of dollars of new development breaking ground that extends into new neighborhoods beyond downtown • Launching vision zero with hundreds of new street safety improvements and 50 miles of protected bike lanes • Exceptional fiscal stability with a credit rating upgrade and record high cash reserves • The South Loop Park over highway 670   • Preventing hundreds of evictions with our “right to counsel” program • Planting 10,000 trees in 3 years  • Converting our streetlights to LEDs to save $5 million annually • Delivering all new trash and recycling carts to 160,000+ households  • The airport solar array  • Using rubber and plastic waste to build new roads • Nationally recognized KCFD drone search and rescue program • Well deserved pay raises for all city employees (average of 24% increases in my first 3 years here) • Creating our first ever homelessness prevention team and our first ever emergency cold weather and low barrier homeless shelters • Opening the all new $1.5 billion single terminal at the Kansas City International Airport and having record high travelers in 2024 • Assembling the most talented and most diverse leadership team in our City's history  I’m going to continue to be a Kansas City fan on social media and beyond-  I care so deeply about this community and there are so many exciting things happening here!  Always remember: everything is great.

Opening Day Eve and that means it’s time to put my boot on the neck of JoCo’s dream of snatching the Royals out from under KCMO’s bedsheets. The absurdity of an unserious sports talk host pushing for this to happen makes my blood boil. JoCo is an important economic hub for KC. It is a wonderful place for corporate entities to build massive sprawling campuses and beige housing developments. It’s a fine place to raise a family and live a quiet simple life. It is by no means the heartbeat of the city. Despite exciting development in downtown OP and Lenexa, it is still an entrenched position that is not desirable to most of the city. Northlanders will not go that far south. JoCo never goes north unless it’s for the airport. Cutting off access for 81 dates is a loser. Solution? Split the difference. Washington Square Park. Ripe for a ballpark district and easily accessible for the entire metro. Parking is not an issue and never will be down there. Enough patty cake. Enough risky STAR bonds. There is no better place for baseball in KC. The Battery in Cobb County is a pipe dream. KC suburbs aren’t cut out for a project of this magnitude. Skyline in left. Western Auto building in right. Baseball in the middle. This is the future.

Christians, if it has not been part of your normal practice in the past, take time today to commit to praying regularly for our next President BEFORE the emotions of this week engulf the nation. No matter the outcome God’s sovereignty reigns. No matter who wins we are commanded to pray for those in positions of authority and leadership. Our duty in this regard is not dependent upon our support for Trump or Harris. It is an act of obedience to the God we serve.
