@dz0788 No especially when his Nigerian friends aren’t being mean to him
Ayotundé II@txndeayo

@offthinkpINK You’re saying it in a way that your intention doesn’t seem like you’re being mean … my point is for those who are being (excessively) mean Mean enough where you can even use it as an excuse to be xenophobic

@txndeayo I mean, you are an outsider to the Black American experience, just like im an outsider to the Black South American experience, or the Black African experience. I’m not getting this logic here? Like……..

@txndeayo That’s the Nigerian diaspora. But if we were to remove all Nigerian presence from the idea of the diaspora, meaning their specific history, language, symbols, political traditions, and cultural influence, nothing much would change. Especially for Black Americans.

@Dr3mecr3me @itsreallyinka No because under this post you’ll find the same sentiments of when white people told the black Americans go back to Africa now they’re saying the same thing to 1st gen Americans that are black (if that’s the right label cuz all this is new)

@txndeayo @itsreallyinka I think that “making you feel like an outsider” is them more so preserving their Black American culture, as they should imo. The experience as a Black person in America is collective- Black American culture is exclusive.

@txndeayo What the fuck is a first generation Black American? Black American’s are slave descendants ONLY. It’s an American ethnicity. You are a (Nationality)-American, who happens to be Black, as well.

@txndeayo @itsreallyinka I understand what you mean but the terms you used were incorrect. Plus, as a Guyanese American haven grown up in NYC amidst Black American culture, the animosity is equal from both sides. Black immigrant didn’t want to be associated w Blk Americans, BA being xenophobic to BI.
