This is the first game I have seen the Blazers play with the same level of defensive intensity that they started the season with.

Jrue Holiday showing out in a big game for the Blazers. What a phenomenal performance.

Blazers cannot expect to turn the ball over 20 times a game and win. So much sloppy play.

I am convinced if Marvin Bagley was drafted by a different organization he would have a fine career.

The problem is players union is also pissed because a) they have teams who have money to spend to improve on free agents but would rather trade for dead money and b) sit players would prefer to play (Giannis) so they can tank. Designed losing is far worse than just being bad.
LegendOfWinning@LegendOfWinning

My goodness these are all terrible ideas… There needs to be an understanding that teams will be bad in the NBA, it’s an inevitable phase in rebuilding. So prolonging that phase by making it more difficult for teams to get the adequate talent makes no sense. These changes are so mind numbingly dumb that I can only assume that they are driven by the influence of gambling companies

The other problem is there are a few of these teams who have ensured they continue to lose games they would otherwise win because they want to keep their pick…not because they are actually worse than the Grizzlies/Bulls.
Alec Sturm@Alec_Sturm

The problem with the NBA isn’t that the Nets, Wizards, Kings, Pacers and Jazz are tanking. There are always going to be 2-5 bad teams who do so; this lottery is loaded. The problem is that the Grizzlies, Mavericks, Bulls, Bucks are as well. Don’t make that more common!

I was told by the talking heads that the Blazers turnovers would go down when their point guards were healthy….meanwhile the Mavs are not even playing a point guard.

Yeah I don’t believe most fans want their team to trade good players that help them win just so they can bottom out. Let’s create an environment where teams are not incentivized to part off decent players for scraps in order to sell the idea of hope of a top pick.
Mike Zavagno@MZavagno11

The NBA is a salary cap league where one player can have an outsized impact on winning. The task at hand should be how do we ensure our worst teams have the highest likelihood of getting those players so their fan bases stay engaged and the league remains healthy

@FredKatz @JonesOnTheNBA That would still put them in the middle of the pack assuming other teams are probably bad for two years in a row.

@JonesOnTheNBA My guess is this leads to the most aggressive tanking possible from a team with aspirations to be better the following season so it can try for the play-in and still have a terrible 2-year record for the lottery

I would rather see average to good teams position themselves to help their future than teams literally racing to the worst possible records and actively making moves to have their team bottom out.
Sam Quinn@SamQuinnCBS

I say this with every round of lottery reform concepts and I’ll reiterate now: any concept that allows Play-In or playoff teams to get the No. 1 pick entirely defeats the purpose of the reverse-order draft as a talent balancing mechanism. The cure is worse than the disease.

@KY_PDX Bro don’t get me started again. I have been quietly watching his stats every game with Utah. He is a missed opportunity to have on the Blazers roster.

If the NBA gets $10 billion for an expansion team, the Compound Annual Growth Rate for NBA teams is 18.2%, which puts it just under the No. 1 CAGR sector, AI.
