@_aniwaniwa Absolute arses. Second time I have heard of health system doing this this week— the other story it happened 15+ years, but yeah they tried to get someone I know, who is Māori, prove her citizenship IN PERSON w documents so her newborn could be registered as NZ citizen.

so i wrote this weird tiny book, and then for a year i didn't do anything to try to publish it, and now i feel alienated from what i wrote, and slightly defeated by it, as everything we write seems to become historical, we get so distant from ourselves

@WallisKeziah all he had to do was credit and cite you, really. so easy and so much richer to be seen as being in conversation with other work.

@tythily Honestly his stuff isn't really related to mine aside from the basic premise (diff discipline) but it's so blatantly lifting some of my ideas. It's also just terrible scholarship!

Always nice to discover that someone who was at Otago at the same time as you & attended your talk on Burmese Buddhism & animism later got a big grant to do some research on this topic despite having no previous xp with Myanmar
