47 years of hostility cannot end through less than 24 hours of talks. Reality on ground is that the U.S.-Iran ceasefire is holding and neither side has said it won’t talk further. The rest is spin.

It’s notable that President Trump and VP JD Vance both praised Pakistan’s role, crediting and praising PM Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir and making clear any shortcomings weren’t on Islamabad. That shows this was done with full backing from Washington and partners, and shouldn’t be used as a point of leverage, revenge, or to denigrate Pakistan.

US Iran talks - where the world learned the crisis not solved

Over to Asim Munir. He has to convince the Iranians to take the deal. The stronger side often makes the final offer and leaves. So the ball is now in Iran’s court. They shouldn’t have let it come down to Vance doing a presser of this nature. Because if the Iranians take the deal now then it will be taken as Iran caving in. Also, Vance’s disappointment was visible. Seemed like he really wanted a deal here.

Talks failed but history will remember the lengths Pakistan went to, to get it settled peacefully. We have punched miles above our weight & gave the world a glimmer of hope against all odds. We were the only avenue that gave hope to millions & millions of mothers & children who dreaded destruction. Proud of our diplomats. We know it’s a good news for a specific faction of anarchists in Pakistan but then again, until they get hold of affairs, let’s cherish what we did in the last two weeks for peace. Congratulations, Pakistan. And good luck to the world !!
