OGUN STATE.!!!! Often, I feel sorry for Ogun State when I consider how much it has grown in population, with new towns and locations springing up exponentially. Ogun State has become a conurbation where one can practically connect from one town to another without travelling through bush patches. This explains my shock when I saw a Keke plying the Sango-Ifo route. This is a total departure from 30-40 years ago when, upon leaving Ifo, the next major place you’d see people were from Owode-Sona Brewery and Sango. Onihale used to be just a roadside shed with a palm wine seller. These days, Sango, Owode, Onihale, Ilepa, Pakoto, Sawmail, and down to Ifo are all well-built and bustling with high populations. You can imagine my surprise when my aunty, a proper Surulere born and bred, announced that she had moved to Ilepa. I was like, “Whatttttttt💁 Ogun State has become a haven for people looking for cheaper accommodation and land for personal housing, who often commute to Lagos for work. Almost all the traditional farmland between Pakoto, Aiyede, and Ilepa is now replaced by new houses and communities that didn’t exist 30-35 years ago. The result is an unplanned environment, strained infrastructure( if any), and the government’s inability to meet the demands of these new communities. I believe the Ogun State Government should understand these new challenges and brace up to address their new realities as the “New Jersey State.” To achieve the new status, everything must be done to fix the Lagos -Sango - Ifo - Abeokuta road. Miss me with it’s a Federal Road. Take it , fix it and toll it .

Unilag is called university of first choice for a reason. That 320 in jamb and 84% overall that is big in your eyes ehn? You’ll be amazed to see 5000 other aspirants that got 320-350 with 85-87% aggregate. And the school only needs about 100/200 of them. Ask around…

@kellohhx You obviously know nothing about unilag. I graduated from unilag and I’m telling you for a fact, MBBS, law and economics are always the most competitive. Unilag NEVER joke with their merit list. Merit list for these courses always remain MERIT. You think sey na EKSU?

My sister-in-law is an intelligent girl. She scored 284 on her first JAMB, but couldn't get into Unilag to study medicine. The next year, she scored 320, but still no admission into Unilag (I can't explain it). I couldn't just sit back and watch her talent go to waste. So, I got her to take the SAT exam. She prepped for only two weeks and scored 1450. We started applying for scholarships in the US, and she got two fully funded scholarships and one partial one. Last week, she went for her visa interview. In a few months, she’ll be heading to the United States. 1. I am still confused that she couldn't get into Unilag. Something is definitely wrong with our system. 2. I am happy she is going to somewhere she can truly shine and explore her full potential. 3. It's a shame we keep losing our brightest minds. 4. To be successful, you need opportunity, information and access.
