@utkronix @mxtaverse India has produced Olympic champions in shooting, wrestling, badminton, boxing, athletics, and javelin despite cricket being dominant. Their growth depends on support systems, not on cricket becoming less popular. Cricket didn't "take" attention from other sports.

@KOHLIFLAG @mxtaverse Exactly, one World Cup win gave cricket decades of media attention, sponsorships, and infrastructure. Other sports can produce Olympic champions and still struggle for the same level of support. That's the point.

The argument is that today cricket monopolizes most of the media attention, sponsorships and public interest, leaving other sports fighting for scraps.

@utkronix @mxtaverse How is cricket overshadowing the growth of other sports?? There were no multi million dollar television or sponsorship deals. The BCCI relied heavily on ticket sales from matches and donations from wealthy patrons. After they won 83 World Cup things changed.

@utkronix @mxtaverse It's just an excuse that cricket is overshadowing football or other sports, reality is AIFF is corrupt. No one knew what the javelin throw was. But Neeraj Chopra performed well and made us watch the sports till late at night.
