This is beyond sad. The dad doesn’t know how to attune. Babies need “motherese” — softness, gentleness, sweetness, intuitive attunement, a soothing voice and presence. This man comes across as monstrous, callous, and totally unwilling to recognize or meet the infant’s needs. Sadly reminds me of the Still Face Experiment (look it up). The baby knows he’s not getting what he needs. This will have negative developmental impacts with lifelong ramifications. This is how you create a personality disorder, in fact.
