So I am thoroughly confused. I thought eagerness & confidence were positives. Plus, I want to be a surgeon, so that sounds great to me but it was meant as an insult. Can’t help but feel like that was an attempt to stifle my genuine interest & energy.

When I asked for feedback on my (non-surgical) rotation, I was told “you’re too eager. You come across very confident. And you have a tendency to act like a surgeon, and that’s not good.” I was speechless.

I would pay out-of-pocket for a concierge service that booked in-network appointments for me, checked bills for accuracy & managed out-of-network claims. Realizing I’ve been avoiding care b/c it’s too much of a hassle. And I’d probably save $ by using a service like that.

Back pain and discomfort is common in surgeons. We need to me more proactive in the OR. Everyone should be comfortable when they operate. Step stools when needed.When I was a resident operating with faculty 1 ft shorter he said “bend over”. 4 hours later back pain.Not acceptable!
