@dreamkid83 Get off Spotify and other streaming platforms. Use Bandcamp or a platform where you can release vinyl / cassette and communicate directly with your audience.

Don’t want to be negative but AI has really cheapened the synthwave scene. Everything seemed special before, it had heart, now everywhere I look I just see meaningless AI junk. What’s even worse is that a lot of people now mistake real human made things for AI. Well done world, let’s see what you can ruin next.

@ObviousElk @dreamkid83 Genre is irrelevant. AI can do rock, classical, jazz, opera, barber shop quartet, just as easily. It's all just data mate.

🚨 Do you understand what this man just pulled off.. > a guy from North Carolina used AI to generate hundreds of thousands of songs.. uploaded them to Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon.. then botted billions of streams on his own tracks and walked away with $8 million > 660,000 fake streams per day.. spread across thousands of AI songs so nobody noticed.. $1.2 million a year.. for music no human ever actually listened to real artists are out here grinding for 0.003 cents per stream.. promoting on TikTok.. begging for playlist placements.. and this guy just had AI make the music AND the audience first-ever criminal streaming fraud case.. he's paying back $8 million.. but the playbook is out there now.. and AI just got better since he started the music industry spent 10 years fighting piracy.. now they have to fight songs that don't exist being listened to by people who don't exist.

I used to DJ like this after a few pints.

@refikanadol Without authenticity, art is nothing. Using AI as a tool is one thing, but letting it dream, visualize, create for you is something else entirely. Everywhere now I see incredible images brought to life by AI. But it's all eye-candy, empty like a hallucination.

They said photography wasn’t art. They said cinema wasn’t art. They said video games weren’t art. Now they say AI arts/digital art isn’t art. I’ve spent over a decade with my studio team turning millions of data points into living, breathing artwork experiences ethically — at MoMA, at the Guggenheim, at the Venice Biennale. Not because a machine told me what to create, but because I had a vision that no traditional tool could realize. Denying all AI technologies as an artistic medium doesn’t protect art. It limits it. The artists who embrace new tools don’t replace the old masters — they join them. Art is not defined by the brush. It’s defined by the intention, the emotion, and the courage to see the world differently.

When machines can handle the boring, dangerous, and repetitive stuff, humans get time back to build, create, and focus on the big, important problems that actually move civilization forward.

A commenter recently asked me if the the possibility of the death of our current system giving birth to a new cultural, economic and social paradigm is a cause for hope. The reality is human progress is a myth —societies often go backwards. I fear that we are now ushering in a new Dark Age of fascist authoritarianism.
