i mostly encounter poor reading comprehension at the fringes of this app when viral tweets reach ppl i have no connection to, but a bunch of accounts i vaguely know and respect seemed to do this with my recent tweet.
a bunch of ppl accused me of giving advice, which i did not. one big account was like “ppl with one baby should stop trying to give advice” but my post was not even contingent upon me having a baby, much less was it advice related to my baby.
i think when ppl get emotionally triggered they’re more likely to respond to the painful thing their brain fears was said. smarter more reasonable people do this less often, but i think everyone sometimes does this and it’s good to remember this tendency exists.
