Under the decisive leadership of PM @NarendraModi ji, India has reached a framework for an Interim Agreement with the US. This will open a $30 trillion market for Indian exporters, especially MSMEs, farmers and fishermen. The increase in exports will create lakhs of new job opportunities for our women and youth. As part of this framework, the US will slash reciprocal tariffs on Indian goods to 18%, providing a huge market opportunity in key sectors such as textiles & apparel, leather & footwear, plastic & rubber products, organic chemicals, home décor, artisanal products, and select machinery in the world’s largest economy. Additionally, tariffs will go down to zero on a wide range of goods, including generic pharmaceuticals, gems & diamonds, and aircraft parts, thereby further enhancing India’s export competitiveness and Make in India. India will also get exemptions under section 232 on aircraft parts, tariff rate quota on auto parts and negotiated outcomes on generic pharmaceuticals, leading to tangible export gains in these sectors. At the same time, the Agreement reflects India’s commitment to safeguarding farmers’ interests and sustaining rural livelihoods by completely protecting sensitive agricultural and dairy products, including maize, wheat, rice, soya, poultry, milk, cheese, ethanol(fuel), tobacco, certain vegetables, meat, etc. This agreement will help India and the US remain focused on working together to further deepen economic cooperation, reflecting shared commitment to sustainable growth for our people and businesses. Investment View & Key Monitorables Long-term stance: Positive, driven by $1bn revenue aspiration, deep capex-backed capacity build, and migration to higher-margin businesses (high-layer PCBs, OSAT, ODM-based meters, space/drones, AR/VR). Key positives: - Well-structured capex funding mix (equity + debt + sizable subsidies + internal accruals). - Move towards technology-rich, higher-margin, entry-barrier businesses. - Improving doubtful debt metrics and conscious tightening of risk management. Monitorables / Risks: - Timely execution and ramp-up of OSAT and advanced PCB plants. - Subsidy visibility and disbursement timelines (FSA/TRA execution). - Client concentration in OSAT (top 3–4 clients driving majority of capacity). - Management’s ability to scale nascent bets (space, drones, AR/VR) without distracting from core EMS execution. - Any delay or disappointment on these fronts could trigger volatility and corrections, given the current rich valuations.

Kaynes Technology – Management Meet [Detailed Notes] 1. Big Picture & Growth Ambition Kaynes is targeting $1bn revenue by FY28E, with FY26E revenue guided at INR 45bn (INR 41–42bn from core EMS; balance from OSAT, PCB and August/acquisitions). New ventures (OSAT + PCB + camera modules, etc.) are expected to contribute ~25% of revenue by FY26E, with 70–75% still coming from core EMS. Revenue remains back-ended, with ~40% of annual revenue expected in Q4. Management is positioning Kaynes as a full-stack, high-tech electronics player: EMS + advanced PCBs + OSAT + niche ODM bets (space, drones, AR/VR, smart meters).

In my latest column for Hindustan Times, I outline 8 steps for a strategic reorientation for India to meet the growing challenges in the region and beyond. 1) It is time to abandon the L1 (”Lowest Bidder”) policy for defence procurement. 2) While multi-alignment is still India’s best foreign policy bet, we must consider pursuing it with clear and defined objectives & outcomes. 3) Delhi must reconsider whether it makes sense to continue prioritising its multilateral diplomatic efforts around the narrative on terrorism stemming from Pakistan. 4) Delhi must consider getting into more targeted, outcome-based military agreements. 5) Delhi should initiate a strategic dialogue with NATO. 6) Quad must have more military focus. 7) India must significantly invest in defence innovation. 8) GoI should appoint special envoys dedicated to agile backchannel diplomacy and special, time-sensitive tasks
