ANNOUCEMENT: AzurePCS will have partial dots of LTE Band 40 coverage across Edinburgh, Newcastle, Coventry, Walsall, Swindon, Hastings and Maidstone by the end of 2026. If you want to help expand this coverage by hosting a site, then send an email to azurepcsuk@gmail.com.

We’ve successfully sent and received our first messages between the AzurePCS network and external network numbers. This is a big milestone. Over the next few weeks we’ll be running extensive testing to ensure reliability and stability.

Big moment for AzurePCS today, we have successfully migrated our core network to a new hosting provider. This has significantly improved our latency. It has gone from an average of 80ms to 54ms, a 32% decrease.

First AzurePCS 2G site active. Calls working great!

SMS now working on AzurePCS on iOS - from what I’ve seen, this is one of the very few times this be done on a private network with a 999 PLMN. Next step is getting VoLTE working on iOS which is more complicated.

First permanent AzurePCS site is now live! This uses the Ofcom Shared Access License for Band 40, 20MHz. The 20MHz bandwidth on this site can give a max of 112Mbps. Data, SMS and internal calls all work well, but need some more work to be done to get 100% right.
