"The Sergeants Benevolent Association
strongly condemns the shocking verdict delivered yesterday by the jury in the Detective Jonathan Diller trial.
Detective Diller was gunned down in the prime of his life, by a ruthless assailant, who had every intention of killing him, and that was clearly supported by all the evidence and witness testimony presented throughout the trial.
In any other jurisdiction that murderer would have been found guilty of first-degree murder, but here in New York, where criminals are protected more than the men and women who protect our city every day, that is sadly not reality.
We stand in support of Detective Diller's widow Stephanie, their entire family, and all our brothers and sisters in the NYPD. May they find some peace in knowing that this thug will be in prison for the rest of his life."
