Unfortunately, they desired to have their own autonomy but, it was not possible for Ottomans to give that, and there was a rebellion from them. And, unfortunately, to finish it, both sides gave casualities.

Against greeks or any other nation, there is no genocide at all, there was a war and we defended our lands. That's it.

@esristormborn The Turks engaged in methodical and systematic genocides in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Previously, there were clearly instances of regions being leveled, but those were due to uprisings rather than systematic policy.
