On this day—June 10, 1864—Confederate cavalry commander Nathan Bedford Forrest won one of his most brilliant and stunning victories at the Battle of Brice’s Crossroads in Mississippi. Despite being heavily outnumbered (roughly 3,500 Confederates against over 8,000 Union troops under Gen. Samuel Sturgis), Forrest used aggressive tactics, rapid movement, and superior leadership to completely rout the Federal force. His men captured hundreds of prisoners, dozens of wagons, artillery, and vast supplies while inflicting heavy casualties. The victory was so complete that many Union soldiers panicked and fled in disorder. It remains one of the most lopsided and tactically impressive Confederate wins of the entire war and a shining example of Forrest’s unmatched skill as a cavalry leader.

For non-Irish following events in Belfast, just to show you what was used to save the victim. This is a hurley stick or hurl (not a hurley bat!). It’s used in the Irish games of hurling & camogie to hit a small ball called a sliotar. Hurling is one of the most ancient games in the world & one of the fastest, requiring great skill. It’s a game deeply embedded in our mythology & is central to the stories of one of our ancient heroes, Cú Chulainn, who used a hurl & sliotar to save himself from being attacked by a fierce hound. I just got an update from Jake Lang who was arrested by DOZENS of DPS/ Texas federal police officers who ripped him off the plane, hand cuffed and drove him away WHILE HE WAS STILL ON THE TARMAC!!! Jake has been charged with class 3 “Terroristic Threats” for saying if the jury didn’t find Karmelo Anthony guilty that “Jake would take care of it himself”. Texas state police have yet to arrest any of Karmelo Anthony’s supporters who threatened to “Hang Jake from a tree if the sheriffs weren’t there” or “Push you into your grave” to one of Jake’s supporters in a wheel chair. Every time they target Jake for arrest it’s obvious they’re using FULL LAW FARE TO TRY TO SILENCE HIS VOICE THAT SO MANY MILLIONS OF US AGREE WITH!!!
