@drphilhammond Shoo Lee's pub quiz team produced a glossy brochure advertising Letby's innocence. Actually delivering on that promise during a trial is a different task. They might have muddied the waters enough for a few more no verdicts, but would have been cut to shreds by cross-examination.

Why Lucy Letby is extremely unlikely to be granted an appeal, no matter how many experts review all the notes and trial records, and find no evidence of deliberate harm. If you couldn’t find the right defence experts first time around, it’s just bad luck. observer.co.uk/opinion-and-id…

Cheshire police have put out a statement, saying those pointing to failures in their Lucy Letby investigation are "attempting to destroy reputations," and "risk undermining public confidence" in Letby's convictions, as well as the entire justice system. bordertelegraph.com/news/national/…

@saintant @drphilhammond @ccrcupdate @NeoDoc11 The time is approaching when you will realise you’ll need to delete your account and acknowledge to yourself you just didn’t grasp and understand all this ….and then you will be ok👌

@AGK666726 @m1chaelbarnes @drphilhammond Not how it works you idiot. Why would anyone give so much insulin to a baby that wasn't prescribed and too through a feed bag? It's murder or attempted murder. No other reason.

Why could Ben Myers find no expert witnesses to defend the insulin poisoning theory, whereas Mark McDonald has found plenty? Letby’s fate was effectively sealed at the pre-trial expert meeting, when experts on both sides agreed exogenous insulin had been given to two babies, alongside a theory as to how Letby might have secretly spiked nutrition bags. The jury never heard expert explanations of the unreliability of the tests, particularly in neonates, and the far more plausible causes for the prolonged hypoglycaemia in these two particular neonates. The judge knew about the expert agreement on exogenous insulin before the trial started, the jury found unanimous guilt on the insulin cases and were then directed by the judge to use this finding of guilt in making judgements on other cases. Even if the CCRC concludes there is reasonable doubt in the insulin cases, having been given very detailed experts reports that the jury never saw, Letby may not get an appeal because these experts could have given their evidence at the original trial. Which comes back to my first question. Why couldn’t Myers find experts prepared to challenge the insulin poisonings when McDonald can? My full report on the pre-trial joint expert meeting is below. The important legal point here is whether the jury was told Hindmarsh was under investigation by the GMC so they could judge what weight to give to his evidence. I can find no evidence that they were told. theguardian.com/uk-news/2026/m…

@brianoflan46772 You seem to be totally missing the point. The issue isn't whether or not Lee was aware of the paper. The issue is that Lee made claims at his press conference that are contradicted by the paper.

#lucyletby @drpaulclarke has blocked me which is a shame because I was enjoying our exchanges. Here is the full transcript of his interview with The Trial. Shoo Lee has in fact addressed the papers which Clarke suggests he overlooked -see next chat reddit.com/r/LucyLetbyTri…

@drpaulclarke Perhaps you just didn’t read the crucially important sentence : “Systemic air embolism is a rare and lethal complication in neonates under high ventilator pressure use.” ….Lee has said this. Also look at the X-ray - pul interstitial and subcutaneous emphysema. Did you read it??

@drpaulclarke @LucyLetbyTrials @drphilhammond You did notice this important phrase - “Systemic air embolism is a rare and lethal complication in neonates under high ventilator pressure use.”……particularly last 5 words??? ….which is what Lee has always said !

That's a great question: would @drpaulclarke defend his arguments in a dialogue with @drphilhammond? It's not like Dr Clarke can claim that he'd rather not discuss his opinions about the Lucy Letby case with journalists, after all.
Teeth go Grey@Teeth_go_Grey

@LucyLetbyTrials @lizhull I have questioned this Dr’s motivations on X previously. He seems to have a vested interest. It now appears clear that he is lining himself up as the Evan’s replacement if this gets a retrial. I wonder if he will engage with @drphilhammond as the first to back Evans.

@ca_scrimshaw @drpaulclarke The ones in the paper quoted by Hull - read it ! What they say merely reaffirms what Lee said in his paper. Look at the X-ray , the fact it specifically states high pressure ventilation….its not hard honest

Yet another piece of below GCSE-level journalism by @lizhull, presumably in a desperate attempt to redress the balance, following a dire few weeks for the #LuctLetby is guilty brigade. This, however, is a case report NOT a peer reviewed scientific paper. The poor baby that this..

@lizhull This is the paper @lizhull based her groundbreaking "EXCLUSIVE" on, by the way. I'm incredulous: pediatr-neonatol.com/article/S1875-…

@ca_scrimshaw Read the scientific paper and you’ll realise it merely backs up what Lee said - sadly the Mail journalists don’t seem to understand the medicine here in this paper. It’s pure bad bad journalism - nothing else , just shocking !
