Oh my little Shanebug, so anxious to be outed. He was so worried Ilya would tell the league he was looking at him in the showers, it made him nearly sick :( I can’t imagine feeling as isolated as he did, so young and determined to protect himself he’d rather never be truly happy.

They never would have allowed an Asian man to be the first and I’m sure he would have been made to retract his statement if he tried before he was outed :(

Thinking about how if Shane was the first to come out in the league, he wouldn’t have had the same reception as Scott Hunter. Even him being a hockey legend, who has numerous accolades. He would be stripped if his identity by the public and turned into a spectacle bc he’s gay :(

baby shane wanting so desperately to fit in with his peers so he studies all their interests, organizing them in his head, so he can talk about them :( he just wanted friends so badly which is why in part he was so nervous approach Ilya. he just wanted companionship :(

do you realize that since irina, ilya spent his life taking care of everyone while no one ever took care of him? not his father not his brother. shane is the first to truly see him, love him, stay and hold him. for the first time, ilya is not just surviving, he is loved.

so buzzy in fics when there are two Ilyas and the one from the proper timeline is jealous of the one from the future/alternate dimension 😵‍💫 when he stakes his claim on Shane and also views himself as competition that he needs to outdo 😵‍💫

@whimsfully I’m a sucker for the 70s/80s classics that are cheesey asf now but that defined the genre, like return of the living dead, texas chainsaw massacre, the thing (probably one of my all time favorite horror movies), invasion of the body snatchers, the fly, Halloween, etc. etc.
