Cropped from footage on the last day of the highland cèilidh - anyone for a kung-fu Goldie? This sub adult was enjoying a daliance with a local buzzard :)

5am starts are in order now and for the next 10 weeks. Early season delights for the lens are the flora grabbing the last few rays before the canopy is full of the salad fresh leaves now just dominating, celandine and bluebells...

Often it is suggested IQ is judged by the use and manipulation of tools. I wonder at the threshold a nuthatch achieves by its obvious selection of the squishiest rotting acorn used as a plasters float. Smoothing & compressing newly applied wet mud on his nest porchway. Love 'em.

Great to connect with these little guys again - tawny mining bee's are emerging and almost immediately searching out burrow options and/or your bee-hotel. Don't have one? Mine's an old aftershave tin screwed to a wall and filled with cut bamboo...

Male reed buntings in their finest finery and the first sub-Saharan African migrants - common whitethroats, have started my 'high season' stopwatch first light at @WKWT Brandon Marsh this morning 👌

@LeamPeregrines An Easter weekend filming with peregrine falcons at the @WKWT @Warwick_DC linked eyrie in Leamington Spa Town Hall clock tower. I urge people to access the live webcam. Female incubating four brick red eggs, duty bound male waiting patiently

@JJChalmersRM ...with you this morning, that deep breath. Can't imagine the thoughts and how deep they go. Thank you for suffering the loss, the memories and for giving yourself where I and others did not. Thank you.

@mrscmway Feeling OK is completely natural as is feeling guilty. The overriding fact and one which will hopefully quell the negative emotions is the unrelenting fact that he chose you and you chose him. However that ends in the journey and nuances of life is completely out of our control.

I’m currently in bed eating crumpets and drinking coffee. My dog is lying on my feet and I’m watching Afterlife. It’s 9 months today since my husband and best friend of 26 years took his own life but I can actually honestly say today I feel ok. But I feel guilty for feeling ok!
