I was happy to attend the graduation of candidates from our “All About Trees” program yesterday! Participants received training in the basics of tree care to prepare them for job opportunities in the field. Funded by a federal grant that also funds tree installations in the city!

Stopped by for “Coffee with Grandpas United” Tuesday morning.The speaker was our Public Safety Commissioner David Chong who provided a public safety update. Great seeing everyone! If you’re interested in the program, contact the White Plains Youth Bureau!

Big turnout for our Wellness Fair in downtown White Plains! Advice, exercise, fun,and I even got my Covid and flu vaccines! Yes it’s that time of year, don’t forget!

Great day for the “Girls in Aviation” program at Westchester County Airport! Young women from White Plains learned about careers in aviation from women who currently hold those positions. A great time was had by all!

Another big turnout for Rock the Block on Mamaroneck Ave in White Plains! Beautiful evening, music, food ,and fun! Still time to join us!

Rain early but the sun came back out for the Highland’s Association Family Fun picnic! Great seeing everyone!

On Friday we took a moment to thank Brian Kenney for his years of service and transformative impact on our library. Relying on his knowledge, passion, and dedication, he navigated the library through changing times and our community reaped the benefits. Thank you Brian!

White Plains own Claire Weinstein is an Olympic Silver Medalist at 17! She swam the first leg of the women’s 200 Free Relay and did a great job with a personal best on the big stage! Congratulations Claire your city is proud of you! Go Tigers!

I visited our Youth Bureau summer programs Monday, including our Careers in Medicine, Tech, Entrepreneurship, and Community Garden groups. Impressive work being done by our young people! Thank you to the instructors that make it happen!

Update: White Plains own Claire Weinstein, first in her semi-final heat, has qualified for the Olympic Finals in the Women’s 200 freestyle! At the age of 17, she is the youngest swimmer on the US Women’s team! Congratulations, Claire your city is proud of you! Go Tigers!

Bright and early! White Plains own Claire Weinstein, 17, swam for the first time as an Olympian this morning in the prelims for the 200 Free! Great swim, she qualified for the semifinals! Congratulations Claire your city is proud of you! Go Tigers!
