A mostly retired couple who runs an autism nonprofit supposedly buys their dream property in Humboldt County, California after losing their home in the LA wildfires... but it soon turns into a nightmare. Just six days later, they reportedly receive a letter claiming a barn on the land was built without permits and may have been used for cannabis growing by previous owners. According to the video, the county used old grainy satellite images to flag it, gave them 10 days to demolish the barn or face $12,000-per-day fines, and threatened a nearly $900,000 lien that could lead to the property being sold at a tax sale. The couple says they had a clean title and no idea about any of this. The video suggests the county may have been running an aggressive “environmental response” program tied to past cannabis enforcement — and that challenging it reportedly takes years while most people end up settling. I’m not saying it’s a land grab… but the story definitely makes you raise an eyebrow. 👀

@gotrice2024 Appropriate? Yes If an true emergency had been called in they would have deferred to it. But as a rule the FDs get called to help people get off of the floor and many other things. 2-3 firemen would have it stacked up again in 2 minutes. They are good men.

This woman was awoken to a loud crash, she ran down stairs and saw that the dryer fell off of the washer. She’s here alone and tried to pick it back up but it’s just too heavy. The only thing she could think of is to call 9-1-1. The police and fire department came out and was able to help her put it back. She’s being heavily criticized for calling an emergency line for what they consider a non emergency. But if you are a woman living alone with nobody to help you when something like this happens, was it appropriate for her to call 9-1-1?
