You can’t really compare Phil Foden to the IRGC team. They were wearing the pin referencing the school victims while ignoring the thousands who were killed by the regime in January and they included IRGC affiliated personnel with the team. FIFA, Law 12 allows sanctions for gestures considered provocative, inflammatory or offensive. If this standard is applied consistently, how was this celebration assessed? Football’s credibility depends on equal application of the rules to everyone.
