Spring is officially here. Cold soil, bare branches - all behind us now. Seeds are stirring. Bulbs are pushing. Light is staying longer. Happy first day of spring to every gardener out there - your patience just paid off.

@yardenercom You're completely right. At first I was drawn to the flowers because they were different, but when I read up on it, it became a lot more interesting with each new characteristic associated with it.

Lignum Vitae National flower of Jamaica. It's actually a tree that blooms beautiful flowers. They're lightly fragrant and produce a fruit that's heart-shaped, is bright yellow orange color on the outside, has bright red flesh and black seeds. It is said to have been commented on by Christopher Columbus, who admired its beauty!

Pussy willow catkins just finished? Now's the time to prune. ✂️ Cut out dead branches. Trim older stems by one third. Too straggly? Cut the whole thing to 6 inches — it grows back stronger. Do it before new growth starts.

I finally got part of my garden bed chicken proofed and planted out, I'm so excited!!! 🥰 Honey pod peas, purple sprouting broccoli, garlic and a few silverbeet and lettuce. Just needs a sprinkle of chaos carrots 🥕💖

@CChristensen125 Sounds like those two have made a full-time job of finding gaps.

@yardenercom Soooo long, I have 2 that get out the littlest gap because there's a huge tree that is hard to put the net top across. Still have to figure it out 🙃
