Karpathy coined "vibe coding" in Feb 2025. 13 months later he called it passé. His replacement term: agentic engineering. The difference isn't the tools. It's who owns the judgment.

Vibe coding: prompt → accept → ship → pray. Agentic engineering: define goals → let agents execute → YOU review the logic → ship. One of these collapses under real data. The other scales.

I've been building ML pipelines hands-on. LightGBM. Optuna tuning. Imbalanced datasets. Threshold optimization. AI didn't catch the edge cases. I did. That's the part vibe coding skips.

92% of US developers use AI coding tools daily. 41% of all code is now AI-generated. The bottleneck isn't who writes the code anymore. It's who understands what the code is actually doing.

Vibe coding is a prototyping tool dressed up as an engineering discipline. If you can't read the output, debug the failure, or explain the tradeoff, you're not an engineer. You're a prompt wrapper. #MachineLearning #BuildInPublic #AI

@thisiscodingguy harsh but kinda true. i’m realizing the missing skill isn’t “prompt better”, it’s learning enough to understand and verify what the AI changed.
