The climate is incinerating, wars are expanding, nobody can afford health care, the election is awash in dark money…and yet much of the press corps seems mostly interested in covering an inane sexting scandal that reads like a shitty Bonfire of the Vanities parody.

I remember during the fight over fisa reauthorization watching a high profile dc journalist who was romantically involved with a congressman in support of it reading talking points directly from the national security state. I don’t think I saw a single media outlet discuss the conflict.

@AlbertoMiguelF5 People also overlook that Hezbollah has been warring and commiting atrocities against Lebanese Christians, especially Maronites, for decades now. The less Hezbollah that exist in Lebanon, the better for Christians there.

We rode along with some Haitians in Springfield, Ohio getting picked up in the early morning for work. This van gets those that don't have transportation to their jobs. Part of why Haitians are settling in Springfield is because demand for work is high.

@annbauerwriter Bus drivers are my favorite people in the world. Once I was talking to a bus driver lady who worked at LAX and she started crying as she told me the plan was to automate train lines and get rid of the buses.

This is probably my most progressive position. I, too, think public transit should be free. (Also well-run, a good employer, and so easy to take it eliminates the need for everyone in society to own a car)

Libraries are free. Driving on most roads is free. Public school is free. Calling the cops is free. Parks are free. How does free public transit differ from any of these other things besides that we don’t already have it?
