Building a Smart City in Enugu is a welcome idea, but Enugu has five more urgent priorities that need to come first. 1.Water must run in every household. 2.Large scale mechanized agro production and storage, urgently. 3.Real development must reach inner cities and communities across Enugu. Everybody cannot keep coming into town just to feel development. 4.Declare a state of emergency on job creation in Enugu State so young people can actually get decent jobs at home. The average Enugu youth has very limited opportunities. Getting a job that pays 100,000 Naira a month is a serious achievement. I know this firsthand because I am an indigene of Enugu State. I have lived there, and I have younger ones and cousins there right now. Ninety percent of young people graduating in Enugu every year have to leave the state to find work elsewhere. 5.We need full transparency on contracts in Enugu. Williams Uchemba and his cronies have more access and influence in Enugu than the Deputy Governor who is actually from the state. May Peter Mbah succeed, but he has to be sincere with himself first. Someone claimed that land sells for 400million naira a plot in Nnewi that has only market and no one said anything. But 100million naira for a plot of land in a newly planned city with underground cables, water pipes, drainages etc is too much because it’s in Enugu. 😂 Una Dey muse me for this twitter.
