@blind_via I myself, for example contributed lately on improving the nrf, ble and rf jammer of one of the best firmwares for esp32 (Bruce) tho for the rf jammer for example have a 20 seconds timeout for security reasons tho on my personal build i got rid of that but dont put it out publicly

It's great to see him interested and enthusiastic about PCBs. However, Radio Jammers are Illegal. This parent has no idea that she is in real time watching him commit a crime. Once heard a pitch to jam cell phones of the person driving a car for safety. Never happened because the laws prohibit such devices from existing. Something about radio jamming being an act of war.

@3xPierre @elormkdaniel Furthermore disguising newer tech in older casings is not that rare...to make peaople at ease thinking they are safe. Also don't forget multipliers...you don't even need to jam the "correct" wavelength...you can jam one of its multipliers

@3xPierre @elormkdaniel Even on old tech all what is needed are some tweaks to the modulator for example and it can transmit in different higher wavelengths...you'd be surprised what legacy tech can do still with just some tweaks.

That device is a radio frequency (RF) jammer, often used by military, counter-terrorism, or VIP protection teams. It’s commonly called a backpack jammer or IED jammer. The tall antennas sticking up are a big clue. Each antenna targets different frequency bands such as GSM, 3G/4G/5G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and other radio ranges. Instead of controlling signals, the device does the opposite; it blocks or floods the airwaves with noise so other devices can’t communicate. The main purpose is security. In high-risk environments, attackers sometimes use mobile phones, walkie-talkies, or radio triggers to remotely detonate explosives or coordinate attacks. A jammer prevents that by overwhelming those signals. If a phone or remote tries to send a trigger signal, it simply can’t get through. Think of it like shouting so loudly that no one else can hear each other. These devices are also used during: VIP movements and convoys, political events, crowded public gatherings, bomb disposal operations, and sensitive military patrols. But there’s a trade-off. When a jammer is active, all nearby wireless communication gets disrupted, not just malicious ones. Phones may lose network, calls drop, GPS may act weird, Wi-Fi stops working, and even Bluetooth devices disconnect. That’s why civilians aren’t allowed to use them in most countries, they’re illegal because they interfere with public networks.

What’s the device on his back used for? 🤔

@lanceeihoda @3xPierre @elormkdaniel Exactly...well i claim not to be any expert in any way. Im just a sectesting passionate and been doing some read team sec ops in my spare time...thus not at such a high power level, but the principles are the same as long as you have the right implementation and tx power

@3xPierre @ARibeiroFW @elormkdaniel Does the mobile phone backhaul to a satellite? No it's still gets boosted from towers, the satellite handoff hasn't been deployed and thos sectional antennas encode the IP traffic) push it over rf signals

@ARibeiroFW @elormkdaniel Well I like that you keep saying "if well set up", because mate it can't. The jammers operating range is defined. It will disrupt the likes of citizen bands, unlicensed freq... This has been tested unfortunately I can't go into details.

@3xPierre @elormkdaniel Well do you know what is inside and if it hasn't been upgraded? Sometimes newer tech gets cramped inside old tech cases precisely to give the idea its more ineffective than what it actually is You can't say it doesn't happen and you can't say from a picture that it's not the case

@ARibeiroFW @elormkdaniel The jammer in the picture is legacy and mostly for GSM frequency bands. My point is this particular jammer is old tech and can't interfere with bands outside its defined range.

@3xPierre @elormkdaniel It can if its well set up. you think sat communications use oxygen-hydrogen-ozone wave combinations to travel in the air? Like i said, it's all about setting it up correctly and jam the right radio waves frequencies. And with a sat connection one can even intercept it...

@ARibeiroFW @elormkdaniel Bros! Ok. So i am terminating an LTE call on a sat backhaul your legacy jammer will disrupt the call right?

@3xPierre @elormkdaniel It can, as even if ip trafic, the signals pass by rf waves so a jammer can clog those frequencies with noise and if well implemented effectively block the traffic to 3/4/5g devices The receiving device will end up receiving corrupted packets or not at all and efectively be jammed

@elormkdaniel 2G and 3G CS alone. 3G PS, 4G, 5G and above are IP traffic. This device on this man's back cannot jam those. Please be informed. "Each antenna targets different frequency bands such as GSM, 3G/4G/5G"

@eevblog Yeah I got pretty confused at this back when i spent 3 months in South Africa a few years ago...perplexed is rather the right word. But when i saw the traction those 5 test match days gather and how literaly everyone is eager to watch them it's rather fascinating

Another thing that will confuse Americans: Australians have a cricket match that starts on Boxing day (today) that lasts for 5 days (called a Test Match), and there is a decent chance that after 5 days of play, the game will end a draw. Countless Aussies will do nothing for those 5 days except drink beer and watch the test match, or perhaps also running their own backyard cricket matches alongside. And if you aren't into watching cricket, then you often just sit on the beach drinking said beer instead. And also perhaps playing a game of drunken beach cricket.
Dave Jones@eevblog

Americans don't have Boxing Day?

That time you try to make changes in your git fork and end up submitting a pr upstream with commits that weren't supposed to be on the main project for...reasons...and you do it TWICE! Hopefully closed the PRESS right away...but commits can be seen still. I defo need a rest haha

@akramcodez Not even that...for alotta projects (i found that out by experience myself) github and github actions just do alotta work even when you use a mobile environment to edit code and build it...wonder of building in place and use runners to get workflows going...and all that for free
