Legendary Illinois corn farmer Herman Warsaw poses in a field with some of his record-breaking crop, circa 1985. He achieved a world record of 370 bushels per acre. What makes his story even more incredible is that when he and his family bought the farm in 1941, the damaged soil was yielding only about 38 bushels per acre. @fasc1nate Interesting that Henry Warsaw achieved a record corn yield growing continuous corn. He mastered the management of heavy crop residues (though definitely not with no-tillage; he liked deep chiselling, as I recall). Application of manure was a big factor too.

@BFW Wisconsin has fallen so far from the peak of the Alvarez Era. They could've incorporated their sports program (ex. UCF and SMU) but decided to stick with legislative constraints. Coach after coach left because they couldn't pay to keep assistants. Could Mullen land there?

This is going to be the wildest coaching season ever in college football. Penn State, Florida, Oklahoma State, Virginia Tech, UCLA, Arkansas already open by mid October. Auburn gonna come available. I wouldn’t rule out Oklahoma being available. Then a surprise or two. Madness.
