I worked in the telecom world for almost 20 years.
The lack of copper pairs creates a VERY dangerous situation for kids who need to call 911.
No power, no VOIP. If the kid has no cell phone, he/she is in a world of trouble.

My instructor was an Air Force Academy professor, a former aide to Ronald Reagan, and an SDI advocate.
I argued that an ambitious missile defense system would make nuclear war FAR MORE likely.
