Look up to @arpit_bhayani sir 🚀 A reminder that great engineering careers are built step by step: - Started as a Project Trainee at TCS Innovation Lab - Joined Saba Software as a Software Associate - Became a Teaching Assistant at IIIT Hyderabad - Joined Practo as a Software Engineer → grew into Senior Software Engineer - Worked at Amazon as SDE II - Spent ~5 years at Unacademy Technical Architect → Principal Engineer → Senior Engineering Manager → Director of Engineering - Joined Google as Staff Software Engineer (Dataproc → Memorystore) - Co-founded Profile.fyi (acquired by Mercor) - Again Staff Software Engineer at Google (GCP Memorystore) - Finally resigned from Google day before yesterday From foundations → scale → leadership → reset. Excited to see what’s next. 👀🔥

You think you've done enough DSA until a 1 hour 15 minutes interview comes up and drills you to the point that it humbles you of your preparation.

I had just started as an SDE intern, and was fiddling around with the code base. Me: Hey, can you send me the link to our version control system? Mentor: Umm, what!? Me: You know, where we keep our code backup... Mentor: Hmm, is there a need for that? Me: Yeah, I mean, my past experience tells me to always backup code, just in case something goes wrong. Mentor: Ohh, that's easy. I'll teach you how I do it. So, he comes to my workplace, and does this: 1. Go to your workspace folder. 2. Right click it. 3. Zip it. 4. Open outlook. 5. Compose email. 6. Attach the zip file. 7. Mail to yourself. 8. That's how it's done! I was like what the hell!?!?! Is this really happening?? And then he started basking in his glory, as if he had taught me some secret hack! Seeing this, I couldn't even get myself to introduce him to git. That was the worst part.

today I was talking with a TCS guy. Bro downloads repo in zip file instead of cloning, lol.

My friend got an 15 LPA offer from a startup last week. When I asked if he negotiated, he said “Yaar, they’re already paying well. Don’t want to look ungrateful.” Here’s what I told him. “If they made you an offer, they want YOU. Not the other 200 candidates they rejected. You already won.” He was scared they’d withdraw the offer. I said bro, if a company withdraws an offer for respectful negotiation, run. Good companies expect it. I suggested him to call them and say “I’m really excited about this role. Based on my research, similar positions typically offer around X amount. Is there any flexibility here? “ Also ask about joining bonus. He was nervous but called them the next day. Result? They bumped his salary to 17.5 LPA and gave 1Lack joining bonus. Total increase of 3.5 lakhs. Most companies have budget for it but won’t offer unless you ask. The biggest career mistake isn’t asking for too much. It’s not asking at all. Remember, the worst they can say is no. The best case? You get what you’re actually worth.
