Restore have genuinely scuppered their own ship by standing in this by-election. At best they will get enough of a vote where Reform will be able to point and say “look, Restore handed Labour this win. Make sure to vote Reform” At worst they will get such a low percentage of the vote it will be embarrassing. There is no win condition for Restore from standing in this election. It’s unbelievable short sightedness.

I spoke to @reformparty_uk’s candidate in Makerfield, @RobKenyonReform, who confirmed the party was seeing “really strong support” on the ground. “You only need to look at the polls to see it’s a two horse race. A vote for Restore is a vote for Andy Burnham”

Team of 6 Reform canvassers have just binned their leaflets and canvas boards in the bin and gone home. One was quoted saying there is no point carrying on because Restore have the election in the bag going by the canvassing sheets being returned to their temporary HQ.
