Anyone voting for the SNP in this election for either competent governance or independence is a fucking moron. The problem is that all the other parties are equally shit. Basically if you vote in this election at all you’re an idiot. This is not a healthy democracy.

@Pirat_Nation None of you idiots read. It will not affect ANY adult who smokes. It's not doing anything to you. It's protecting our children from future PREVENTABLE harm. Smoking is poisen and a country that legally allows a company too sell poisen to the public shouldn't exist.

Parliament has passed the UK’s Tobacco and Vapes Bill to create the first smoke-free generation. From 2027 the legal age to buy cigarettes and tobacco will rise by one year every single year. Anyone born on or after 1 January 2009 will never be legally able to purchase them in their lifetime. Current adult smokers are completely unaffected, this only targets future generations.

@theSNP Private Jet use in Scotland is minimal. On viewing flightradar24 data we appear to have one of the quietest airspace in Europe. What are the projected figures for this scheme and how much will it cost to administer?

A re-elected SNP government will introduce a Private Jet Tax and a Mansion Tax on homes worth over £1 million, making the wealthiest pay more to help support local services across Scotland. Make it #BothVotesSNP on May 7 for a government that’s on your side.

@InnesMcgarry and this is exactly why left wing policies so often fail in practice. Your view of the world is filtered through the need to virtue signal rather than deal with reality. Take your line: “Do people who work full time pulling pints or in bakeries not deserve a living wage?” You present that as though it settles the argument and places you on the moral high ground. It does not. It simply exposes a basic misunderstanding of how work, skills, wages and markets actually function. Some jobs are low skill by nature. Because they require less training, less responsibility, and are easier to fill, they do not command the same wages as highly skilled work, and there is nothing unjust about that. That is how labour markets operate. For many people, these roles are entry level jobs, temporary jobs, or stepping stones to something better. They help people gain experience, discipline, and a work record. They were never meant to be treated as the benchmark for the entire wage structure. The real solution is not endless political grandstanding or pretending every job carries the same economic value. It is to create an economy where people can progress, build skills, earn more over time, and move up. That means growth, opportunity, training, and productivity, not slogans. You do not help working people by reducing every debate to emotional posturing. You help them by telling the truth.

I’m bored of telling you that all the parties are lying to you. Because if they told you the truth they wouldn’t be elected. Britain is nearly bankrupt and politicians have no idea where this ‘mythical’ growth to cover obscene spending will come from Because they can’t! There isn’t any. The working-age population is shrinking, the number of people claiming benefits is rising, and the public sector, funded by the private sector, is ballooning. AI is on track to replace huge amounts of white-collar jobs in the next 10–15 years. All of these people will be jobless and needing to claim benefits. Which we won’t be able to afford to pay! The guff about “net zero” and “green jobs” is bollocks (technical term) Those jobs only exist during the construction phase, after that, these are largely automated industries. As for those shouting about Universal Basic Income er … from where? How would it be funded? You’re dreaming. And those saying we can just tax the corporations, they’re dreaming too. They’ll just operate from outside the UK. And to control you … as you demand pay rises and more benefits? Well a near total clampdown of speech and thought through legislation and censorship and those Digital IDs, “just so you behave yourself.” There really is little growth, even trades will be hit because the population won’t have the money to buy their services. We’re are in a badly managed decline, with grossly under qualified and incapable leadership in any party at all. And all those screaming to tax the wealthy? You’re just morons. I’m annoyed 💣

@johnadgrady Perhaps if you had not shoehorned in absurd cycle lanes and actually filled in some of the craters in the roads, traffic would flow better. Just a thought, you know, common sense and all that.

Dr McArthur is correct - Glasgow's roads and public transport are at a gridlock. I raised this at the UK Parliament this week. Good transport is essential for economic growth. We need to get Glasgow moving.
That's TV Glasgow@ThatsTVGlasgow

"We hope this will give some evidence for making the bus faster." That's TV spoke to Dr David McArthur, one of the researchers on a University of Glasgow study with First Bus finding bus delays in Glasgow caused by traffic congestion costs passengers 1.2 million hours per year.

Bypassing #EU #AgeVerification using their own infrastructure. I've ported the Android app logic to a Chrome extension - stripping out the pesky step of handing over biometric data which they can leak... and pass verification instantly. Step 1: Install the extension Step 2: Register an identity (just once) Step 3: Continue using the web as normal The extension detects the QR code, generates a cryptographically identical payload and tells the verifier I'm over 18, which it "fully trusts". This isn't a bug... it's a fundamental design flaw they can't solve without irrevocably tying a key to you personally; which then allows tracking/monitoring. Of course, I could skip the enrolment process entirely and hard-code the credentials into the extension... and the verifier would never know.
Paul Moore - Security Consultant @Paul_Reviews

Hacking the #EU #AgeVerification app in under 2 minutes. During setup, the app asks you to create a PIN. After entry, the app *encrypts* it and saves it in the shared_prefs directory. 1. It shouldn't be encrypted at all - that's a really poor design. 2. It's not cryptographically tied to the vault which contains the identity data. So, an attacker can simply remove the PinEnc/PinIV values from the shared_prefs file and restart the app. After choosing a different PIN, the app presents credentials created under the old profile and let's the attacker present them as valid. Other issues: 1. Rate limiting is an incrementing number in the same config file. Just reset it to 0 and keep trying. 2. "UseBiometricAuth" is a boolean, also in the same file. Set it to false and it just skips that step. Seriously @vonderleyen - this product will be the catalyst for an enormous breach at some point. It's just a matter of time.

This is a great policy announcement because: 1) it's actual action on cost of living, not vague pledges to "tackle" it (eg Labour) 2) the furious reaction from the right exposes that the people who claim to be on the side of regular folk mainly care about shareholder's profits
