Thanks to Tom Dolan for this one! I took this in 1972 in the old Harvard Coop, to which I may have been addicted, I spent so much time there. The girl in the black sweater is looking at the room-length fiction rack (novels, short stories). The girl in the miniskirt is looking at poetry, drama, and literary criticism. "Coop," for those of you who don't know, is short for "cooperative" but rhymes with "hoop." It's still the official Harvard bookstore. (The bookstore on Mass Ave that's actually called the "Harvard Bookstore" is not.) This is the bookstore in the pre-Barnes & Noble Coop. It was on the second floor of the building behind the main one, on Palmer Street. First floor was hardcovers, second floor paperbacks, third floor textbooks. Second floor was also where the huge record department was, long since gone. The store that opened onto Mass Ave sold clothes, school supplies, and the like. Pretty much the opposite of the way it is now, except that clothes have been phased out for gifts and Harvard souvenirs. (And there's no longer a photography department.)
