Airline captain. Big D Democrat. Never had X until now. I kept watching horseshoe lefties colonize every corner of liberal online space. When independents look at what "the left" says online, they see those people and assume that's us. It isn't. They don't vote Democrat. They don't believe in liberal democracy. They are as much a threat to this party as MAGA is, just from a different angle. Populism is a cancer. The actual base of this party is overwhelmingly people with liberal values who don't tune into politics, not loud performative online leftists who treat the Democratic Party like a hostage

"26th Amendment (1971) guarantees the right to vote for citizens 18 years of age or older." There's no amendment that says I should only vote for democrats or republicans dufus🙄

There’s a weird thing going on right now where a bunch of upper middle class well-educated white guys have fallen in love with Platner explicitly because he successfully cosplays the type of character they wish they could be seen as (but don’t actually want to be). It’s like a Secret Life of Walter Mitty thing. Platner had the luxury of family money to fuck around for 20 years & work for Blackwater until his mom buys him an oyster farm while Pete left McKinsey after 2 years, joined the navy, became mayor of his hometown in Indiana, ran for president, and rebuilt American infrastructure.

Calm down. All she is saying is for the left to get a grip on reality, be OK with incremental reform, elect far more Democrats (even flawed ones), and work for systemic reform so as to create better realities. And its coming from a Black woman, whose ancestors did all the above and helped end slavery and Jim Crow - which seemed nearly impossible to do at the time. There is nothing emotional nor unreasonable about this message nor the messenger. Again, calm down.
