@1DimeOfficial @jacobin Brand New Congress was supposed to be - a post-partisan organization that fielded candidates based on platform rather than political party. Unfortunately it went the way of a lot of political orgs and was more or less folded into the Democratic Party before being disbanded.

As far as electoralism goes, the only viable alternative to running socialists in the Democratic Party is to run socialists in both the Republican and Democratic parties at the local and state level. Third parties can’t go anywhere in the US political system electorally, unless the party is just for influencing culture and mobilizing protest

And it’s worked – the uninsured rate in Washington dropped by about 10 percentage points from 2011 to 2023. But now, the Trump administration has pushed through a change that will make it harder for people to enroll and keep their health insurance.
