13-year-old Amit was bitten by a snake. Instead of taking him to a doctor, his family tied him to a wooden stick in the Ganga. They waited for 12 hours for the poison to subside. Amit died without treatment. Snakebite deaths in India are often caused not by the bite itself, but by delay in proper medical treatment. Superstition and lack of awareness continue to cost lives.
