Charlotte Fire mourns the loss of Odessa Fire Rescue Lieutenant Isai Huerta, who tragically lost his life in the line of duty while battling a residential trailer fire in Odessa, Texas.
Lieutenant Huerta, 29, was among firefighters operating at a working fire Sunday evening when conditions rapidly deteriorated. Three firefighters were injured and transported to the hospital for treatment. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, Lt. Huerta succumbed to his injuries.
A nine-year member of Odessa Fire Rescue, Huerta was remembered by those who served alongside him as a firefighter who was always willing to help, always had a positive attitude, and genuinely loved serving his community.
Our hearts are with the Huerta family, the members of Odessa Fire Rescue, and all those affected by this tragic loss. We stand in solidarity with them as they honor Isai's life, service, and ultimate sacrifice.

Congratulations on 1 year of sobriety to Jo! 🎉
“A year ago, while on an all-inclusive holiday, I was drinking my multicoloured ethanol and for the first time I saw alcohol for what it truly was. I remember thinking, “Is this it?” My entire life revolved around drinking, and I had reached the point where I’d had enough.
Putting that drink down opened up my world in ways I could never have imagined.
It hasn’t always been easy. There have been hard days, but that’s where the growth happens. Every challenge faced sober has made me stronger.
The rooms of AA are filled with literal walking miracles. People who once felt hopeless are now living full, meaningful lives. They showed me that recovery is possible.
When you conquer your demons, you can do anything.
Today I am one year sober, and I’m deeply grateful for everyone who has supported me along the way. Sobriety has given me freedom, clarity, and a life far bigger than anything alcohol ever promised.
One day at a time”

Please join me in praying for 17-year-old Mikah Howell, a Mandarin High School football player, honor roll student, and young man with a bright future ahead of him.
Today, Mikah is fighting for his life in a Jacksonville hospital after a savage tragically shot him. This young man had already earned college football scholarship offers through hard work, discipline, and dedication both in the classroom and on the field.
His mother has remained by his bedside in intensive care, refusing to leave her son’s side as she prays for a miracle. No parent should ever have to endure such a heartbreaking trial.
As the Howell family walks through these difficult hours, let us lift them before God and ask for His mercy, healing, strength, and peace. Pray for Mikah’s doctors and nurses. Pray for wisdom for investigators. Pray for comfort for his family. And pray that God’s hand would rest upon this young man and bring restoration to his body.
“Heal me, O Lord, and I shall be healed; save me, and I shall be saved: for Thou art my praise.” Jeremiah 17:14
Lord, we ask in the mighty name of Jesus that You touch Mikah Howell. Strengthen him, sustain him, and surround his family with Your presence. Amen.
