@dave_mcpartlin So true, and so much more difficult to spot. My son missed out on a statement for exactly this reason a few years ago despite the best efforts and support from his primary school.

ADHD isn’t always about external hyperactivity, it can very often be an endlessly busy brain that nobody else can see. Wonder how many people slip through the cracks because they don’t ‘look’ like they have ADHD.

@Headteacherchat Never want to see these again! Took so much time for little return. Specially with split classes. I once had to keep track of over three hundred KS3 pupils using these! So much paper, so many highlighters sacrificed!

@Headteacherchat Pretty sure I saw some stats that said there are more accidents in PE and DT lessons than science.

@primaryteachew It’s definitely not just you. I found it really hard to switch off at the end of term and am only just starting to relax now Christmas is over. Still got a week to spend some quality time with my family so trying to be positive.

I feel overwhelmed with guilt that I just didn’t feel festive yesterday. My parents made the day really lovely and were so generous but I just felt really flat the entire day. Please tell me I’m not alone in this; I feel absolutely awful 😭

@MissL_Amos You seem to be going through a tough time at work. I hope you managed to get through the day and are feeling more positive today!

@MrAllington I thought you made a good point. I bet he wouldn’t reply like that if you were talking face to face.

@dylanwiliam Delaying feedback can mean the students assume their misconceptions are correct and these could become more permanent in their memory. I do, however, think important to remind students of their feedback at a later date just as retrieval practice is key facts is important.

I regularly see teachers being advised that feedback should be "timely". Does anyone know what this means?

@ShakinthatChalk So often comes down to funding, if you can afford to pay staff well to come in a run great clubs I would love to be in a school with a long lunch break.

@DrGrooby They do have a choice. They choose not to. But in all fairness probably a funding issue now.

Seeing teachers lament an 8 week term saying it’s too much. It isn’t. The real issue is the school day. Decompress the school day and the levels of fatigue that set in over the weeks will be a fraction of what it is now.

@ShakinthatChalk Yes, but it still needs doing. Other wise schools have no choice but to shorten lunch breaks and compress the school day.

@KKNTeachLearn It’s madness that it isn’t but year after year… Imagine if we taught our classes like that - same material for everyone regardless of the children in front of us! 🙄

@missjredwards I think this every year and I’m hanging in there. Helped me to focus on “just” being a classroom teacher and moved to a school with a couple of amazing line managers. Don’t make rash decisions but do what is best for you. Good luck.

If there’s one plea I could make ahead of GCSE results day tomorrow, it’s in the way the media and other commentators talk about GCSE grades. Grades 1-3 are not fails. Us or Xs are. Anyone with a 1-3 HAS GOT A GCSE. And for some of those kiddos, a 1 or a 2 or 3 can be a phenomenal result that they deserve to be proud of. Let’s be a bit more responsible in our language.

Far too many women have been on the receiving end of harassment, abuse and violence for far too long. With violence against women and girls declared a ‘National Emergency’, we need our male allies to stand up and call out troubling behaviour when they see it. #JustDont

Help needed. My school are retiring our surface pros and I use the ability to write on the tablet in every lesson, as I annotate ppt or OneNote. Anyone got any suggestions for what I can use? (I don’t get on with visualisers) there is no chance I can keep the device as I’ve asked
