My book is a guide for discipleship, learning how to follow the way of Jesus through the practices of reading scripture, knowing the doctrines of the Nicene Creed, praying the Lords Prayer and Living out the Decalogue. Due out May 12th!

Our foundational identity, the meaning of our life, and the longings of our hearts are found and experienced as apprentices of Jesus. The whole reason you were made and remade was to experience the good life in friendship with the Triune God under the apprenticeship of King Jesus

The goal of apprenticeship with King Jesus is communion with the Trinity, character formation in the Trinity, and the cultivation of our lives for the Trinity.

I’m a SBC pastor in Utah, 95% of my area identifies as Mormon. This past fall, we decided to confess the creed during liturgy, I preached through the Nicene Creed and many memorized it as our “line in the sand” We have had more baptisms and members in that time than ever before

You can be Protestant, even a Baptist like me, and love the early church fathers! They get right the essentials and the big guns have more in common than you are led to think. Of course they didn’t agree on everything, but not even other SBC pastors agree on the most basic stuff

Mormon physiognomy is a real thing. Having grown up in Utah, I can spot a Mormon at 50 yards. I did this on my honeymoon. My wife and I were holding the cruise ship elevator for a couple coming down the hallway and I told my wife "they're Mormons" and she said "how do you know," and I said "by looking at them" and she said "you can't tell if someone is Mormon just by looking at them" and I said "yes I can" and then they got in the elevator and I asked where they were from and they were from Utah and he had just finished his mission.

@jt_english We must retrieve ancient catechesis: Creed, Prayer, and Decalogue—pillars built on the King’s Word—shaping what we confess and how we live. The fathers would gasp at confessing the Creed without embodying it in scriptural love.

This is just bad theology. It assumes theological development ceased in 381 A.D. What about Chalcedon, Pelagianism, the Reformation, and theological anthropology facing the church today? The church isn’t *adding* to orthodoxy. The church is *applying* orthodoxy to new issues.
