My latest on how a 3-second video clip of a guy who's never played a down of football has sent college coaches into a frenzy. Meet Ireland’s Neff Giwa, a 6-7 1/2, 295-pound rugby-player-turned O-lineman with 37-inch arms who can run a 4.88 40. Free story: nytimes.com/athletic/71363…

Court Hears Account of Terrifying Home Break-In Targeting Teenage Girl as Community Praises Boy as Hero A 27-year-old man Mampeme Mikamibua is facing up to 14 years in prison if convicted after allegedly breaking into a family home in Lagore Lawns, Dunshaughlin, Co Meath and attempting to rape a 16-year-old girl inside her own bathroom. SnD Media News was the first official news outlet to break the story on Wednesday night, February 26, 2026, based on the victim’s mother’s public Facebook post made shortly after the incident. According to the mother, Katherine McMorrow, the terrifying ordeal unfolded on Wednesday evening, February 25, at their family home on Lagore Lawns. The intruder allegedly entered the house, chased the 16-year-old girl upstairs, dragged her into the bathroom, and shut the door before attempting to rape her. In a heroic intervention, the teenager’s 13-year-old brother ran up the stairs, kicked in the bathroom door, and physically dragged the man off his sister. The girl then fled screaming from the house to a neighbour’s home, raising the alarm throughout the estate that “a man was trying to rape her.”Neighbours rushed to assist the distressed family and Gardaí were called to the scene immediately. During the arrest, Gardaí are reported to have removed the suspect’s underwear from his pockets. According to the mother’s account, when asked what they should do with him, the man allegedly replied that he had intended to rape the 16-year-old “in her own house that he broke into.” Mampeme Mikamibua, of Lagore Crescent, Dunshaughlin (an address in the same residential area), appeared before Judge Eirinn McKiernan at Navan District Court on Friday morning, February 27.He is charged with burgling the property at Lagore Lawns by trespassing with intent to commit the arrestable offence of rape, contrary to Section 12(1)(a) of the Criminal Justice (Theft and Fraud Offences) Act 2001. Detective Sergeant Shane Dervan told the court that the accused made no reply when the charge was put to him. A bail application was made but strongly opposed by Det Sgt Dervan due to the extremely serious nature of the alleged offence. Judge McKiernan refused bail and remanded Mikamibua in custody. The judge also directed that the accused receive urgent medical and psychiatric treatment while in custody. He is due to appear again at Trim District Court next Tuesday, March 3. The case has left residents in Dunshaughlin deeply disturbed,as both the alleged victim’s home and the accused’s address are located in the same residential area of the town. Early court reports initially withheld the man’s name for legal reasons, with the first image and full identification emerging today. The incident has prompted renewed discussion locally around personal safety and security within residential estates, particularly in quieter commuter towns where serious crimes of this nature are considered rare.  Several neighbours told SnD Media that the events have left families shaken, with parents in particular expressing concern for the safety of their children and calling for increased awareness around home security measures. One resident in particular proclaimed; "this man must have been stalking this teenage girl for some time, waiting for an opportunity to get to her, he continued; what makes this even more disturbing is that he was living not just within the locality, but the estate itself" Community members have also praised the swift actions of the young teenager who intervened during the incident, with many describing his actions as courageous and potentially lifesaving. As the case progresses through the judicial system, the people of Dunshaughlin remain deeply affected by what many residents have described as one of the most disturbing incidents to occur in the community in living memory.

We hate to state the obvious, but we’re going to anyway: Stop leaving the keys in your vehicles. The statistics around farm vehicle theft are staggering – with a large volume of stolen vehicles being driven away with the owner’s own keys. #KeepingPeopleSafe

Well done to the fans in the Aviva jeering when Prendergast got taken off. Certain sections of Rugby fans just love to hammer our own (especially when from Leinster) rather than encourage a young man who is struggling but is miles ahead of where Sexton & O'Gara were at this age.

Phil Foden reached 100 Premier League goal contributions last night without a single penalty - a milestone that puts him alongside Damien Duff! And it’s a reminder of just how special Duff was. In an era stacked with world-class wide players, Duff produced outstanding numbers, delivered on the biggest stages, and did it all with consistency at the very top of English football. Sometimes his legacy gets lost in the noise of the modern game, but when a player of Foden’s calibre is only now matching what Duff produced years ago, it tells you everything about the levels he hit in his prime. Damien Duff should never be forgotten. An unbelievable footballer!🇮🇪
